Miracle Laurie
About

Miracle grew up in Surf City - Huntington Beach, CA.  Her first introduction to performing was as a little itty-bitty hula dancer.  Since she could walk she's been telling stories with her hands and shaking her little grass skirt.  To this day, she can be spotted in the occasional Aloha Festival or backyard luau.  Shortly after that, she began taking piano lessons - her gift for graduating Kindergarten and one of the best presents she's ever received.  By the age of 7, she was in her first stage production.  She played a little girl who caused nothing but trouble for her babysitter in a skit called "Who's Babysitting Who" in her first of many Variety Shows with local O.C. director, Tom Hardy.

Her mom tells a story of how when she was just a little girl, maybe 5 years old, she was watching TV, pointed at the screen, and said, "look mommy...I'm going to do that someday."  Her mom simply said, "ok, dear."  Her father is an artist and her mother an entertainer - so needless to say she grew up with a very supportive family.  Every school Miracle attended had to have a Drama Department.  She was in productions from Jr. High through her stint at University of California, Irvine where she obtained her B.A. in Drama.

At the age of 19, a dear friend of hers, Greg McClure, introduced her to a workshop up in Studio City, called SEENWORK run by Jeanette O'Conner and Randy Crowder.  It was at SEENWORK that she met one of the casting directors that would bring her in for many projects and eventually cast her in Dollhouse.  For 4 years on and off she made the sometimes 2 hour commute to meet with casting directors, make contacts, go on auditions, audit classes, and make some really good friends.

At the age of 23, she made the move up to L.A. from O.C.  She quickly learned that although auditions and callbacks are fun and rewarding...they don't pay the bills.  She has had quite the myriad of day jobs in her time but has been lucky enough to find employers who allowed her to follow her dream at the same time.

A couple years ago, she was introduced to the ukulele - she is a dancer in her mother's Hawaiian group.  She fell in love with the ukulele, so her family got her an early b-day present.  She brought it home to show her man...he fell in love with it too and was a natural at it.  Thus, Uke Box Heroes was born.
